Weld Inspection Service Guide

Know which weld service to request—and what record should come back.

A practical starting point for sanitary and process-weld inspection, examination, testing, and documentation. MJM can perform defined visual-documentation work and coordinate qualified specialty providers when the project requires them.

Direct visual work

Visual and dimensional review

Weld identification, accessible-surface observation, alignment or dimensional evidence, discoloration context, maps, photographs, and exception records within the approved project scope.

Internal surface access

Borescope and video

Recorded internal-surface viewing when geometry and access permit, with the weld or location tied to retained media and reviewer observations.

Assigned specialty provider

Nondestructive examination

Radiographic, penetrant, ultrasonic, positive-material-identification, leak, or other examination can be coordinated when required. The assigned qualified organization performs and reports its own work.

OUR ASME BPE INSPECTION INTERPRETATION

Inspection begins by defining the boundary—not by choosing a test from a menu.

01 Governing basis Confirm the specified ASME BPE edition, applicable construction code, project specification, weld population, and acceptance authority.
02 Examination plan Identify which welds require visual review, internal viewing, sampling, specialty NDE, testing, or documented exceptions.
03 Identity and evidence Relate weld IDs, maps, material records, procedure or personnel records, examination reports, media, and repair history.
04 Acceptance record Show results, unresolved items, approving authority, provider responsibility, and final turnover status without borrowing anyone else's credentials.

ASME describes BPE as covering hygienic equipment materials, design, fabrication, inspections, testing, and certification. The purchased governing edition controls—not this webpage.

ASME B31.3

B31.3 addresses process-piping materials, design, fabrication, assembly, examination, inspection, and testing. Applicability and code boundary must be established for the project.

Radiographic testing

Industrial radiography uses X-rays or gamma rays to produce images of internal conditions. Technique, qualification, safety controls, acceptance criteria, and reporting belong to the assigned examination scope.

Information and coordination—not a blanket certification claim

This page does not represent MJM as an ASME certification body, authorized inspection agency, or universal provider of every listed examination. Only the person or organization assigned and qualified for the approved scope issues its applicable result. MJM QAAI defines and reconciles the quality record while keeping that authority visible.
